Stainless Steel 321 Wires are a type of austenitic stainless steel with stabilized additions of titanium. The stabilization with titanium makes it resistant to intergranular corrosion, which can occur after exposure to high temperatures. This property sets Stainless Steel 321 apart from Stainless Steel 304 and 316, making it particularly suitable for applications where welding or operating temperatures reach higher ranges.

One of the key features of Stainless Steel 321 Wires is their exceptional resistance to intergranular corrosion, even after prolonged exposure to temperatures ranging from 425°C to 815°C (800°F to 1500°F). This characteristic makes it an excellent choice for applications in environments where frequent temperature fluctuations or extended exposure to elevated temperatures are expected.

 Stainless Steel 321 Wires

The chemical composition of Stainless Steel 321 typically includes around 17-19% chromium, 9-12% nickel, 0.08% maximum carbon, 2% maximum manganese, 0.75% maximum silicon, 0.045% maximum phosphorus, 0.03% maximum sulfur, 9-12 times the carbon content in titanium, and trace amounts of other elements. The titanium content aids in the stabilization and prevents sensitization of the material during welding or high-temperature applications.

Machining Stainless Steel 321 wires can be more challenging than other austenitic stainless steels, like 304 or 316, due to their higher hardness. However, with the use of appropriate cutting tools, adequate lubrication, and slower machining speeds, excellent results can be achieved.

The corrosion resistance of Stainless Steel 321 wires is remarkable in a wide range of environments, including organic acids, alkalis, and aqueous solutions with chloride ions. It is also well-suited for applications in mildly corrosive environments found in chemical processing, petrochemical, and food processing industries.
